Construction of the new fuel terminal in Rostov, Russia

13.06.2017  - Drees & Sommer supports the Client in the construction of the new large scale fuel terminal in Rostov, Russia.

The fuel terminal “Yuzhnuy” will supply the international airport "Platov" situated in Rostov-on-Don/Russia. The new airport is being under construction and is included in the country’s federal program for the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018. This is the first project of Puma Energy in Russia (a subsidiary of Trafigura company - one of the largest multinational oil traders that supply fuel for about 62 airports all over the world).

The most important technological process within the overall project realization - installation of fuel storage tanks, began in April 2017. All together four tanks will have the total volume of 7800 m3. The completion of installation works is scheduled for June 2017.

Drees & Sommer as the Client's representative executes financial and construction control over the project. Drees & Sommer’s many years of international experience in the implementation of similar outstanding projects and local presence in Russia were the decisive factors for the successful award in the Client’s tender.

The construction of the fuel terminal “Yuzhnuy” is of a great importance for Rostov region. It will support the operation of the new airport "Platov", which is to be largest infrastructure facility in the Russian Southern Federal District. The Platov airport will serve not only domestic flights, but long run flights to Western Europe, China, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Vietnam, India and other countries.

The commissioning of the facility including the acquirement of all necessary technological permits is scheduled for November 2017.
